A licensed Miami insurance agent has been arrested after she allegedly obtained and transferred more than 300 homeowner insurance policies without homeowners’ knowledge or consent and pocketed nearly $476,000 from the policy premium differences in this scheme, according to a statement from Florida Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis.

Claudia Odila Romoleroux, owner of RND Insurance Corporation, is accused of fraudulently obtaining more than $877,000 in premiums for 307 homeowners policies.

Romoleroux’s alleged scheme including supplying mortgage companies with fraudulent documents and requesting the homeowners’ escrow money be sent to her business account to pay for new policies. Unbeknownst to these homeowners, Romoleroux allegedly used a portion of that money to pay for cheaper policies with inadequate coverage. Through this alleged fraud impacting homeowners and leaving them vulnerable, Romoleroux pocketed nearly $476,000.

The increases will be 14.9 percent, but in Fort Lauderdale and most of South Florida that could mean 20-30% so look for the next renewals. Allstate did ask for 30% or more so this is a win for the consumer’s I guess. 46% of all Floridians say that Insurance is a huge burden compared to 24% for the tax problem. 4 years ago it was 36% and 31%. Obviously this is a continuing problem that still must be dealt with in Tallahassee. The average premium for a single family  Home Insurance policy in S. Florida is now over 3K/year  and could be close to 4K.Many homes are over 6K especially if they are older homes with Flat roofs even if they are newer. Condo Insurance  policies are never below $1200 these days. How much can the people of Florida handle and how badly will this hurt the desperately needed Real estate recovery that has started?? Home Insurance rate hikes for next year are already approved for many Carriers like Castle Key, Citizens, State Farm and many other’s. More questions than answers today, but please call L & S Insurance at 1-888-244-7400 for all of your quote for Home,Auto, Flood, Business & Commercial and Life Insurance policies as well. Over 6 Billion in reserves,1.4 billion policies, over 433 Million in profits so far this year and a 10% Increase coming next year. Show me the MONEY!!!!  What Michael Mayo of the Fort Lauderdale Sun Sentinal forgets to mention is that Citizens does not  have reinsurance protection like all other carriers!!! That Re-Insurance is the  people of Florida and the 1.4 million policies in Citizens to start. We all know that a large Hurricane like  Andrew, Wilma, Katrina and others can cost 15-25 Billion so 6  Billion would go away quickly. Citizens has the 45% surcharge ability to help re coop the money, but good luck collecting  from people these days  so the funds are still needed. This is why the 500K depopulation of citizens Insurance  which will help Fort lauderdale and all of  South Florida since 70% of that group will come form there. This would leave 900K policies with the same 6 Billion in reserves which should  be better for everyone. The bottom Line as our Governor Rick Scott has always said, He wants the Insurance companies to be “Fiscally healthy”,so we all knew this was coming. Please read the article and I know it says 40%, but these are state wide average’s. Do not think that Jacksonville, Gainesville and Tallahassee will seee major increases. The Pan handle will see some big Increases, but again in S. Florida, we could see 40-60 or  80% so start shopping now. If you are an Allstate customer with a Castle Key policy, watch out for your renewal. Once this is approved we should see increases quickly so I would assume for November renewals, but time will tell. Please call L & S Insurance for all of your quutes at 1-888-244-7400. We will quote your home, Auto, Flood, Business & Commercial, and Even Life Insurance quotes as well. PLease enjoy the article and send us your referrals.

Look at the average increases and then double them if you live in Fort Lauderdale or South Florida and even the rest of Florida will get hit!! These increases come on top of already huge increses this year from each of those carriers, but my info says that 19 carriers are scheduled for rate hikes later this year. Julie Patel of the Fort Lauderdale Sun Sentinal writes this article, but the real unknown question is what will the Citizens rate hikes be for January 2013?? The Mitigation inspections being redone are causing huge rate increases, but if we do not see a large increase from Citizens  people will be choosing Citizens still and that does not meet what the Governor wants to accomplish. Either way, it is very expensive to own a home here in S. Florida as my Insurance is already 50% more than my taxes? Please call L & S for a  quote on Home, Auto,Flood Business & Commercial, and even Life Insurance at 1-888-244-7400. This article below was sent to us by our Friends at First State Insurance.

How do you like being w/ an Insurer who says go away, I do not want you anymore. This is like a bad Girlfriend and will hurt. My prior posts will explain what Citizens is trying to do until Legislative change occurs in 2012. By order of  Governor Rick Scott and CFO Jeff Atwater, Citizens is doing everything they can to make your experience a bad one and to raise prices as well and any way they can including new Mitigation  Inspections to raise additional premiums. Private Insurer’s need to come back to the marketplace and depopulations will need to get back into high gear to make this happen. Citizens has nearly 1.5 Million policy holders and they want this reduced by 50% or more soon. Hurricane season is just around the corner so the activity is hot and heavy while the Legislators in Tallahassee & are in session to make this happen and quickly. Please call L & S Insurance for all of your Home, Auto, Flood, Business & Commercial, and even Life Insurance coverage.
